Who we are

Mimi & Jonna
Mimi and I live in Mérida, Yucatán, México now in an old colonial house that we renovated. We moved in February 6th, 2009.
We’ve spent the 7 years before that living in our 27′ RV, Tortuga. It was a great time, we traveled throughout Mexico and parts of Central America, the western US and a little in Canada.
Along the way, we acquired 3 rescued dogs and a cat. They all lived in the RV with us but just might have had a little to do with our deciding it was time to get a house.
We’ve also had a condo on the Caribbean coast of México for many years and we spend time there as well. Scuba used to be our passion and that is how we discovered the town of Akumal, Quintana Roo. After a decade of diving there and anywhere in the world we could find warm water and lots of fish, we seem to have wandered away from it. We still enjoy diving but we don’t do it as often.
We are enjoying the space and the beauty of this old house and getting to know the city of Mérida. You don’t spend much time in cities when you live in an RV and both of us are city girls, we missed the energy, the chaos and the all night food!

blah blah blah GINGER
I started out writing travel emails for friends at home. I think I did that for about 4 years and most of them are on our original web site. I finally got sick of bouncing emails and endless address changes and decided I’d write it and they would have to figure out how to find it. I don’t think I realized there would ever be much of an audience and I often felt I was just talking to myself. That’s the reason for the blog name, a favorite Larson cartoon that seemed to portray my blathering into the ether.
I’ve gained much from blogging, something I did not anticipate. New friends that have become as close as those I’ve known in person for years.
Thanks Internet!
Jonna
