Last week some workers came to install a trellis outside our bedroom on the private terrace.  It is another of the original protectores from one of the back kitchen doors.

They have removed the hinges and the connecting pieces and separated it into two.  I want it on the wall so the jasmine vine can grow up it.

I’ve never been a morning person, anyone who knows me would probably list that in my top 5 defining traits.   I was able to spend most of my working days on the swing shift, a perfect spot for me.  At times though, either due to ambition or politics I spent a few years working days.  Oh the torment! I never got enough sleep and I was always tired.

I wonder if I had been on an assignment I liked on the swing shift if I would have retired when I did, I think I was lucky to be on the end of a 3 yr run on days which made it much easier to leave.   My dislike of mornings saved me from that endless procrastination that some have when it comes to retiring, most of them end up dying in the traces.  Thank you dayshift for helping me get the hell out and having these wonderful adventures for the last 7 years.

I have been getting up earlier than my norm down here, I’m usually up around 9am.  No more double digits, or maybe just not as many.   Even though we haven’t bothered to install AC yet,  it’s not the heat that gets me up.  It is often cooler and fresher at 9am than when I go to bed.   I wonder if it is age?  Everyone told me, or at least OLD people told me, when I was younger that I would become a pre-dawn riser when I got old.  Um, that hasn’t happened yet so maybe I’m not yet old?
