For some reason, Mimi and I seem to keep being surprised by the fact that we live in a REAL house. I guess all those years living in the RV, or some subconscious idea of what makes a house real. We now have a coffee table!! and a side table and chairs and a table in the office. This has happened over the last month or so but today, the coffee table arrived and that seemed to make it real. We kept looking at each other and saying ‘we have a real house’ like it was a revelation.
So, I guess for us, a coffee table makes the house real.
ps. it’s great for putting your feet on, that’s what is important right?

…..and what a fine couch ornament! Hopefully we can meet up with you two this winter. Having seen the house it one of it’s earlier lives, we can’t wait to see it now.
Absolutely beautiful room.
REALLY? A Hammock in the Living Room?
A cold ceverza, swinging hammock and the NFL on the flat-screen.. Cor! can’t get better than that mate! Congrats on the coffee table, and making it REAL!

It looks better every time you post. And that is what amazes me.
One of the most wonderful things about your house is the way you did the floors. But the room is beautiful and looks comfortable. To me that is one of the most important things, that you should have multiple places to feel cozy and comfortable. Curl up with a book or computer or hang with a group of friends.
Jan, I got your email but forgot to reply. Of course you should come this winter. The dobies will have a ball and we will too.
Dan, the hammock hooks are original to the house, it’s a Yucatan thing. It is great to lay in the hammock with a beer and the NFL
I’m going to have to move the hammock to the other end of the room though now that we have chairs and a table. There are embedded rings for it all along the room and we have several of the original hooks as well.
Steve, I’m now waiting for a bid from the same carpenter for a side credenza kind of thing on the terrace. I was impressed with the tables, even before the marble went on them the wood finish was beautiful. It never ends.
Nancy, I agree that for me to want to live somewhere it has to have a welcoming, comfortable feel. Too formal or too sparse and I may love the look but I wouldn’t want to live there. It’s a fine line between cluttered and comfortable, I’ve crossed it in the past and it is hard to remove things.
Not only do you have a real house you have a lovely home.
Coffee table or no coffee table, y’all have an absolutely gorgeous home! Kick your feet up and enjoy the fruit of your labor!!!
Looks lovely. *sigh* Wish I was there.
OK, what are those monkeys doing? I see two of them, are there more?
xoxo to you both
Cristina
ahhh, the monkeys… they’re just hanging around
I got them at a tianguis, there are only 2 of them but I love them. They’re papier maché and I fear that some of my close friends don’t share my enthusiasm for them. They make me smile so that’s what counts.
looks so nice!
Your house just keeps getting more and more beautiful while at the same time retaining its’ coziness. Good work!
