Teresa, I have a Panasonic FZ30, it's a couple years old. It's plenty for my skill level but it isn't a DSLR. It has a 12x zoom which I could use more if I had a better tripod and it has the anti-jitter software that helps me use the zoom at all. I like that feature, I have it in a pair of binoculars as well and it really works. I sometimes play with the curves or levels a bit in photoshop, mostly with the fish in water pics.

The coleus wilts a bit every afternoon in the sun but it bounces back when the sun moves on. I think the sun is why it has such rusty colors, which I really like. It's getting so large now that it keeps falling over, I've got it staked and hope it will stay until after my son's visit this week. It sits outside the guest room and adds so much to the entry. After he leaves I think I'll have to cut it back. It also is infested with white flies that I have to do something about.

Our dive friend had a down turn but they have now moved him to a private hospital and I think they are going to medivac him to the US later this week. He has a long road to recovery and a lot of life changes but he's awake and alert and aware, what he does now is up to him. At least he is stable enough to be moved and taken back to the US near his family.

what kind of camera do you have? those flower pictures are awesome. i'm surprised the coleus can take so much sun. i have a similar one and the leaves curled when it was outside. i brought it in and it is doing better, the leaves look normal now.

hope your dive friend is doing better. it is a miracle he survived. if not for friends, he might not be around today.

Thanks for the compliments on the pics. I'm trying to take some pictures every week of what is blooming or looking nice. It will also help me to remember how things have grown and what season they look good.

Sharon, hi! Of course I do remember Susan and Ann, if you see them again tell them hello from Mimi and I. It is a small, small world really.

Jonna, haven't been in touch since making an offer on a house on 57, but am in Santa Fe, NM, and met a woman who said she and her partner live wherever their RV is. I asked her about that, and mentioned you two. She said, "You mean Jonna?" Susan and Ann say 'hi' ... seems you all met about 4 years ago in the Midwest and have the same RVs ... small world, no? I'll give her your blog address!

Thanks for sharing a bit of your world. I live in a dusty, arid city in Honduras. I can't wait to get out of this apartment and grow stuff. I love the post!
