One of the things that we have been worrying about is where we are going to park our RV, Tortuga.
She’s been out at the beach at the house of friends of the Dodwell’s but they are coming down in a few weeks and we need to move her. We’ve looked at a lot of places and none worked out for a bunch of different reasons. It was getting close to the wire.
Paula mentioned it to Debi and she called her friend Annie and we went over and met her at a lot she owns here in Centro.
It’s fantastic! It used to be used as a dog park by some of the gringos in Centro, they would meet there early in the mornings and let their dogs run. It petered out from all I can tell and then the rains came and the grass got waist high.
We rented it immediately and yesterday I met a gardener there and in a few hours he had all the grass and volunteer trees cleared and stacked at the back.
There are lots of fruit trees in the back and the front is level with a small concrete pad. The whole thing is walled and with the gate shut you can’t even see inside. The neighbors are friendly, the street is really quiet and it is only a few blocks from our house. I can’t imagine a better set up.
We’ll probably park Tortuga to the right of those concrete pillars and use the pad for hanging out. Mimi will have a great spot for working on RV projects and the dogs will have a bigger area to run and play.
I’m thrilled with the fruit trees, there are sweet oranges, sour oranges, limes, mamey, and a couple other I can’t remember. All of them look parched though and I’m now working on getting access to some water. I think if we had water we could even have the front as a lawn which would be really nice.
I’m excited about it and happy that we’ll have Tortuga close to us so we can drop by, and work on things easily. I hope we get to take off in her this fall and do some traveling.

Some things are just meant to be!!!
Cool!!!!
A little country in the city-life is good.
Have you peeked over the back wall at the property there? It’s huge with a raised walkway.
It’s a nice piece of property.

thanks for the 411. im a tropics girl for sure. i have this beauty. you can find it in the 2007 logs of my blog. 454 big block gas hog and its crazy powerful. but the interior is not organized for long term stay. but is totally self contained with onan gen. people love it when they see it out. have you been to maricasa?
Can picture a painted turtle beside the dog on the gate!
There be room at the Balloon Fiesta for ya’ll. Come on down anytime between 10/2 zn 10/11. Lazy Daze Heaven for 20 lucky rigs already signed up.
Lauren, Ron and Norm, you are right it just seems like it was meant to be. It does feel very rural in the middle of the city. I’m thrilled.
Theresa, I didn’t look over the back wall but I will. Annie said the woman who owned it used to walk a lot back there but she isn’t able to anymore.
Connie, yes we are good friends with Kathe from Maricasa. It’s a gorgeous spot.
You are right Wen, we need to paint a turtle on there.
Anne, I don’t think we will be up there for the balloon fiesta again this year. I love going to it and wish it was in the plans but it is a long way and the timing isn’t right for us.
So Jonna, Is there room for another rig there?

shhhhh…. but yes. I don’t think it would be great for living in but you can park Cholula Red there and stay with us. If you really wanted to you could stay there but it would be basic boondocking.
Stash place for Tortuga! Very Cool and who knows could be good for rugby too!
Hi Jonna, this is Teresa in Chelem, interested in the dr lic in Tulum thing, could you send me an email or phone # we would like to go in the next couple of days, thanx, Hi to Mimi!
That wall to the right inside the gate intrigues me. It looks like it was built in 3 sections, or maybe part of it collapsed and was rebuilt. Any chance of a photo of it? I am terrible bricklayer, but I truly believe I could have done better than the guy who built the second section. Reminds me of a long story, but I won’t start it here….it’s about drunken bricklayers.
I’ve lost contact with you!!! I have a friend who is coming here soon, and he will be parking his RV there….sorry…no room for more, but if someone does want to use it, they’ll need to get in touch with me. Could you, too, please? Thanks.
